“Sure, I know how to take a photo but the mechanics of going fully manual just wouldn't stick in my head - until I attended a workshop with Spark Adventure Photography. Goodbye autofocus! I am ready to take my photography to the next level.”

“You could not ask for a better backdrop and scenery than Algonquin Park. Cobi was informative and helped me fix an issue with my camera that I couldn't find. I have had my camera for 15 years but I get away from it and don't realize how much more detailed it is than a cell phone!! I had not touched my camera in years - now I am back at it. Cobi took her time, answered our questions and in the afternoon we were able to put it to good use on our kayak - I am happy to have had this course to get me back on track.”

“Participated in a one day photography workshop in Algonquin Park. Although I very much enjoy photography, I'm inexperienced using a digital camera. Cobi was able to provide excellent instruction to our small group, all of whom were more experienced than I was, but then made a point of consulting with everyone individually to ensure all were able to build on their own level of skill and knowledge. The combination of workbook exercises followed by a delicious lunch and practical application with the beauty of all that Algonquin Park has to offer as inspiration, provided for a most satisfying day. I look forward to joining Cobi again to further build on my skills.”

“Cobi is a truly wonderful instructor. She not only takes time to make sure everyone's questions have been answered, she goes above and beyond to make sure her students succeed. I highly recommend anyone who is new to or is at an intermediate level with their photography to join Spark Adventure Photography on an adventure in Algonquin Park. You will not regret it!”

“I had the privilege of attending the Photo Walk and Editing Workshop on April 26th. I have always enjoyed photography and have recently started shooting strictly in manual mode (a personal challenge), however, I never really did anything with my photos. I had dabbled with Lightroom in the past, but to be honest, the whole process was rather scary and overwhelming. Cobi brought clarity to the whole Lightroom process, from importing my photos to getting photos ready for social media or print. Her knowledge of photography and the editing process came through in her teaching. She was clear in her instruction, patient and encouraging both on our photo walk, and during the editing section of the day. I left feeling encouraged and inspired to not only edit old photos, but to pick up my camera on a more regular basis. I would encourage anyone struggling with the editing process, to take this workshop - you won't be disappointed. “

“I just returned from a photography workshop with instructor Cobi Sharpe, set in Algonquin Park, and I'm still so thrilled to have been a part of it. The workshop on basic digital photography techniques was the best one I've ever taken. Not only did Cobi clearly explain the fundamentals of her art, she had participants illustrate these concepts with practical exercises in the field. In the afternoon we went on a beautiful hike in the forest, up to a summit. This excursion gave us the opportunity to put the new ideas into concrete photographic form. Not only is Cobi extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of her trade, she's also extremely patient with questions. Cobi is very personable, and she created a great atmosphere amongst the instructor and both students. I came away with new ideas, new types of photos, and new friends. I highly recommend Cobi Sharpe as a photography instructor.”

“THANK YOU, Cobi. I have been to several (4 I think) workshops, and while the leader knew about their camera, they didn’t know how to teach, or to help me use mine. You were a triple threat: A GREAT TEACHER (as a student of teaching and a teacher of teachers for 30 years, I know good teaching when I see it), A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER, and, A GREAT HUMAN BEING.”

"“I enjoyed Saturday very much and now I'm excited to play with various settings under the manual option on my camera - It's given me greater confidence to explore all the myriad of functions a DSLR offers on my own. I'm excited to be more in control of the picture I envision in my head. I would definitely be interested in another workshop."

“I have been taking photos for a number of years, but was self taught and a lot of times just guessed at what the right settings in my camera would be, sometimes missing the magic of the moment. With Cobi’s workshop, she has helped me take the guess work out, and given me clear guidelines to look for and think about when composing a photograph. She has helped me understand that taking the photo isn’t just about having the right settings in my camera but also being mindful in the moment, sitting in the moment, being patient and finding ways to tell the story rather than just snapping a picture and being done with it. I loved how hands on Cobi was in the workshop. I never felt nervous to ask a question because of the care that she put into answering it, and confirming that it was in fact a good question. While we got to explore and take photos after learning our new skills, Cobi was available to give advice, a change in camera settings or our physical position to the subject, and ready to encourage and empower us. She pivoted when the weather didn’t comply with our plans and found an awesome alternative! I loved how excited Cobi was, not only for how our photos were turning out, but also her pure, genuine excitement for the little things, for example the lady slippers on the side of the trail, to the roar of the waves through the trees in the forest, and the visuals of the waves smashing over the rocks. This isn’t a boring, stuffy photography lecture with an egocentric photographer… This is an incredible learning experience with someone who is real, down to earth, encouraging, empowering, caring and who genuinely cares about your photography goals. Don’t hesitate to book a photography course with Cobi, you won’t regret it! I can’t wait to join another course down the road. Thanks Cobi!”
