Frequently Asked Questions
What is Spark Adventure Photography Workshops?
Spark Adventure Photography Workshops offers screen-free, immersive photography workshops for women who want to connect deeply with nature, culture, and their creative vision. We host small-group workshops in Ontario and around the world.
Who are these workshops for?
Our workshops are for women (inclusive of non-binary folks) of all ages who love travel, nature, culture, and photography. Some are perfect for beginners learning manual mode, while others are tailored to intermediate and advanced photographers looking to refine their storytelling skills, and photography experiences.
Do I need a professional camera?
Nope! While many participants use DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, we welcome any camera with manual mode—including compact or bridge cameras. The goal is to help you create meaningful images with whatever gear you have.
Are phones allowed?
Our workshops are screen-free zones. That means no phone scrolling, social posting, or distractions. We believe presence is essential to both creativity and connection. Phones are only used for emergencies or essential navigation.
Where are the workshops held?
We offer seasonal workshops across Ontario, including Parry Sound, Algonquin Park, Muskoka, Haliburton, and northern Ontario. We also run national and international trips in places like the Yukon, Newfoundland, and beyond.
What’s included in a Spark workshop?
Each workshop includes guided instruction, photo walks, on-the-spot coaching, curated itineraries, and time for connection and reflection. Accommodations and meals vary depending on the workshop.
How many participants are in each workshop?
Most workshops are capped at 6–8 participants to keep the experience intimate, supportive, and personal.
What should I bring?
A detailed packing list is provided before your workshop. You’ll need your camera, tripod, extra batteries, and weather-appropriate clothing. Optional gear: filters, and a notebook.
Can I attend solo?
Absolutely! Most participants come solo and leave with new friends. These workshops are built for connection—to the Land, your creativity, and each other.
Do you offer private lessons or custom experiences?
Yes! We offer 1:1 private sessions and can create custom experiences for small groups, friends, or families.
