What Is the Algonquin Park Moose Adventure for Women?

Last updated: July 31, 2026 | Trip dates confirmed: June 17–20, 2027 | Written by Cobi, founder and lead instructor, Spark Adventure Photography Workshops. Cobi has taught manual mode photography technique to more than 100 women across Ontario.

Quick answer: The Algonquin Park Moose Photography Adventure is a 4-day, 3-night women-only photography adventure in Algonquin Park. It combines one night of backcountry canoe camping with two nights of cottage comfort on Hondoo Island, best-suited for photographers who already know how to use aperture and shutter priority and manual mode. But any skill level can attend. For those who want early-morning access to moose habitat, small-group instruction, and a guide team that handles every meal, and every tent. Maximum 8 participants.

The trip, in one line: The trip where you paddle out before sunrise, photograph moose in the mist, and remember exactly why you fell in love with photography in the first place!

Who Is This Women’s Wildlife Photography Adventure For?

Quick answer: This trip is built for women who’ve shot in manual, semi-priority modes before, have a good understanding of what aperture and shutter speed do, and want a real reason to pick the camera back up.

Who This Trip Is For

  1. Photographers who’ve shot manual or semi-priority modes and want a real reason to pick the camera back up. Open to all skill levels. If you’re not sure about your photography skills, contact us and we can chat!

  2. Women who want to learn wildlife and landscape techniques without apologizing for taking up space or slowing anyone down.

  3. Anyone tired of phone photos that feel lifeless, ready to bring the real camera back into the field, and find inspiration again.

  4. Women who want the kind of trip where the person next to you gets why you just stopped paddling mid-lake.

Who This Trip Isn’t For

  1. Anyone who wants a fast-paced expedition with long daily mileage and minimal instruction. The pace here is set by the light, not the clock.

  2. Anyone who thinks one night of backcountry camping (tent already set up for you) is a hard no.

  3. Anyone looking for gear talk and pixel-peeping critique rather than composition, patience, and presence. Our shorter workshops are a better fit for that.

What People Are Saying

“If you're looking for a women's photography course, do not hesitate to sign up with Cobi! There's no ego here, and only a desire to help you learn and become a better photographer, whatever your skill level is.”

— Ashley

“You could not ask for a better backdrop and scenery than Algonquin Park. Cobi was informative and helped me fix an issue with my camera that I couldn't find. I have had my camera for 15 years but I get away from it and don't realize how much more detailed it is than a cell phone!! I had not touched my camera in years - now I am back at it. Cobi took her time, answered our questions and in the afternoon we were able to put it to good use on our kayak - I am happy to have had this course to get me back on track.”

— Wendy

“Cobi is a truly wonderful instructor. She not only takes time to make sure everyone's questions have been answered, she goes above and beyond to make sure her students succeed. I highly recommend anyone who is new to or is at an intermediate level with their photography to join Spark Adventure Photography on an adventure in Algonquin Park. You will not regret it!”

Why Women Trust Spark Adventure Photography Workshops

Because we’re teachers and photographers, and we know how to guide women like you.

"You were a triple threat: A GREAT TEACHER (as a student of teaching and a teacher of teachers for 30 years, I know good teaching when I see it), A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER, and, A GREAT HUMAN BEING." — Lori

Our founder, Cobi Sharpe, is a natural educator with years of experience teaching women to confidently operate their cameras in manual mode. We've guided over a hundred rusty photographers from "I'm afraid to touch these settings" to "I know exactly what I'm doing."

What Makes Our Workshops Different:

Teaching expertise that meets you where you are — clear explanations, patient guidance, zero judgment
Hands-on learning, not just lectures — workbook exercises + real-world practice in awe-inspiring natural settings
Individual support throughout the day — we check in often, answer every question, and ensure you're learning at your own pace
No ego, just encouragement — you'll feel comfortable asking anything. We genuinely want you to succeed.
Women who move at your pace — this isn't a race to the trailhead. You won't be three bends behind while everyone else pushes on.

"I enjoyed Saturday very much and now I'm excited to play with various settings under the manual option on my camera. It's given me greater confidence to explore all the myriad of functions a DSLR offers on my own. Tonight, I plan to go out for a walk in the neighbourhood after dinner with my camera, and I am excited to put into practice what we learned." — Lori

"I recommend Cobi Sharpe as she is a natural teacher—very informative and very engaged trying to give the best help throughout the day!" — Kathy M.

This is what happens when you learn from someone who knows how to teach, not just someone who knows photography.
