November 19, 2022

Limited to 9 participants | $250/person | lunch included | Deadline to register: October 8, 2022

Spend the day learning how to make images using the manual settings in your camera while being surrounded by wilderness.

For those who:

- have a digital camera (DSLR) but only shoot in Auto mode
- have watched and taken online workshops but still have questions
- absolute beginners

You will:

- learn how to understand your camera in Manual mode
- take lead control of the settings on your camera so your images turn out as you envisioned them
- learn the fundamentals of digital photography
- get a handbook with notes on everything that the course covers

Good photographs come from a passion for your subject, not from a passion for equipment. Passion for outdoor photography comes from many places:

  • Immersing yourself in the natural world

  • Gaining experience and knowledge in the outdoors

Itinerary: We’ll meet first thing in the morning at an indoor location near Bracebridge and go over instruction on manual settings with time to work on exercises. The afternoon will be spent hiking around one of Muskoka’s scenic trails using the skills you learned. And also finishing the workshop learning how to photograph a sunset/fading light. It’s a great way to work on aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and get some awesome shots of your new friends hiking in Muskoka.

Experience: this workshop is for all levels. Both beginners and advanced photographers will walk away with new skills.

Endurance: Participants should expect an easy-moderate level of activity (with some difficulty when we’re climbing over roots , etc. on the trail).

What to Bring: We’ll spend the morning learning inside at a location to be determined. You’ll need to bring warm clothing, hiking shoes, snacks and water for drinking. You should dress appropriately for the weather. In November there could be rain, snow or sunshine. There are washrooms at the indoor location. No washroom on the trail so you’ll have to practice leave no trace. A backpack/camera bag will be helpful. Bring a tripod and your camera manual.

What’s included: Lunch (please bring your own water and snacks). Course materials.

What’s not included: snacks and water. Accommodation.
